Responsible Gambling

Gambling should stay a paid-for form of entertainment, like a concert ticket — not a way to make money or fix a bad month. Here is how to keep it that way, the tools that help, and who to call in Alberta if it stops being fun.

Responsible gambling warningGambling involves financial risks. Play responsibly and only spend what you can afford to lose.

01 · Know the odds

Understanding Gambling Risks

Every casino game and every betting market is priced so that, over time, the house keeps a share of what is staked. Some sessions end up and some end down, but nobody beats the margin in the long run — not with a system, a streak or a "sure thing".

That is why the only safe way to think about a deposit is as money already spent on entertainment. If you would be upset to lose it, it is too much. Fast games, live betting and late nights all make it easier to spend more than planned, so decide your budget before you start, not halfway through.

02 · Minimum age

Minimum Age

You must be 18 or older to open an account and play on PowerPlay, and you must meet the eligibility requirements that apply in Alberta. The age question you see on your first visit is only the start: your date of birth is verified during identity checks (KYC) before any real-money play.

Accounts opened by anyone under 18 are closed and deposits returned. If you share a device with young people, keep your login private and turn on the parental controls built into your phone, tablet or browser.

03 · Warning signs

Recognizing Problem Gambling

Problem gambling rarely arrives all at once. It tends to creep in as small changes: playing longer than you meant to, depositing again straight after a loss, or feeling flat on days you do not play. People close to you may notice before you do.

The self-check that goes with this section lists the kind of warning signs counsellors ask about. Answer them honestly for the last few months. It is a quick self-reflection, not a medical assessment, and nothing you tick is saved or sent anywhere.

Player Controls

Every control below lives in My Account → Responsible Gambling. Because the Casino and the Sportsbook share one account and one wallet, each limit covers both — there is no side door.

One set of limits, two products
Sportsbook & Live Betting Casino & Live Casino

Lowering a limit or starting a break takes effect straight away. Raising a limit only takes effect after a cooling-off period, and your current limit keeps working until then — in line with platform and regulator requirements.

Deposit Limits

Cap how much you can add to your wallet per day, week or month. A deposit that would take you over the limit is declined before the payment starts, so the money never leaves your bank.

Set in My Account

Loss Limits

Set the most you are prepared to lose in a period — net of any winnings — across bets and casino play. Once you reach it, new bets and game rounds are blocked until the period resets.

Set in My Account

Session Limits

Choose how long a single session can last. When the time is up you are logged out of play, which is a useful brake on "just one more" late at night.

Set in My Account

Reality Checks

A reminder that pops up at the interval you choose and shows how long you have been playing and your net result for the session. You can carry on, or stop right there.

Cooling-Off Periods (Time-Out)

Take a short break and choose how long it lasts. During a time-out you cannot bet, play or deposit, and it cannot be cancelled early — that is the point of it.

Set in My Account

Self-Exclusion

For a longer break, measured in months rather than days. Your account is closed to all gambling for the whole period you choose, marketing stops, and reopening afterwards takes a deliberate request rather than a click.

Account Restrictions

We may restrict an account ourselves — limiting deposits, pausing play or closing it — if we see signs of harm, if verification is incomplete, or if you ask a member of support to do it for you. If someone close to you is worried about your gambling, they can contact us too; we will review the account without sharing your details with them.
