01Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains what personal information PowerPlay collects when you visit the site, open an account and play, why we need it, who we share it with and how long we keep it. It applies to the website, the Sportsbook, Live Betting, the Casino and Live Casino, and to every message you send to support.

We handle personal information in line with Alberta's Personal Information Protection Act (PIPA) and, where it applies, the federal Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA). Real-money gambling is a regulated activity, so some of the information below is collected because the law requires it, not because we find it useful.

Short version: we collect what is needed to confirm you are an adult in Alberta, keep your money and account safe, run your bets and games, and meet our legal duties. We do not sell personal information.

02Data Controller

The organization responsible for your personal information (the "data controller") is the operator of PowerPlay. Details are listed below exactly as they appear in our footer and Terms; anything still being confirmed is shown as such rather than guessed.

Questions about this policy, or a request to see or correct your information, go to our privacy contact. We will name the person accountable for privacy compliance in reply to any request.

03Personal Information Collected

We collect information in three ways: what you give us, what is generated when you use the platform, and what trusted third parties return to us when they carry out checks on our behalf.

  • Identity and contact: full name, date of birth, home address, email address and phone number.
  • Verification: the results of identity, age and address checks and, if requested, copies of documents you upload.
  • Location: your device location at the moment you start or continue real-money play.
  • Financial: Interac payment references, deposit and withdrawal records, and your wallet balance.
  • Activity: bets, casino game sessions, limits you set, and messages to support.
  • Technical: device type, browser, IP address, and the cookies described in our Cookie Policy.

We do not ask for, and ask you not to send, health information, social insurance numbers or full banking passwords. If any of that arrives in a support message, we delete it.

04Account Registration

To open an account you give us your email address, a password, your full name, date of birth, home address (street, city, postal code, province) and phone number. These are the details needed to identify you and match you against official records.

Your password is stored as a one-way hash: we cannot read it, and nobody at PowerPlay will ever ask you for it. Your email address is used to sign in, to reset your password and to send messages about your account. We use your phone number for account security and, where needed, to contact you about verification or a payment.

05Identity Verification

Before any real-money play, gaming operators in Canada must confirm who their customers are. This is known as KYC — "know your customer" — and it serves three purposes: making sure you are at least 18, making sure you are who you say you are, and meeting anti-money-laundering obligations under the Proceeds of Crime (Money Laundering) and Terrorist Financing Act.

What we check

  • Identity: that your name, date of birth and address match a reliable, independent source.
  • Age: that you are 18 or older on the date of verification.
  • Address: that you live where you said you do.
  • Sanctions and politically exposed persons: screening against official lists, as the law requires.

How it works

We pass your registration details to a specialist verification provider, which compares them with sources such as credit bureau headers or government databases and returns a result. If the details cannot be matched electronically, we ask you to upload a photo of a government-issued photo ID (for example a driver's licence or passport) and sometimes a recent document that shows your address, such as a utility bill or bank statement. You may cover unrelated numbers on a statement — we need the name, address and date.

The provider returns a pass, refer or fail result and, for documents, the data it read from them. We store the result, the date of the check and the documents themselves. Your account status — Unverified, Pending or Verified — reflects this, and it only reads Verified after a successful check. A credit-header lookup is a "soft" check: it is not a credit application and does not affect your credit score.

Ongoing checks

We may repeat verification later — for example before a large withdrawal, if your details change, or if our anti-fraud systems flag the account. Refusing a check means real-money play and withdrawals stay unavailable until it is complete.

06Geolocation Data

Real-money gambling on PowerPlay is available only to people who are physically inside Alberta at the time they play. You must be physically located in Alberta to access real-money casino games and sports betting. Your home address is not enough, and neither is an IP address on its own.

What is collected

When you start a real-money session, place a bet or launch a game, your browser asks for permission to share its location. With your permission, a geolocation service checks your device position (built from GPS, Wi-Fi and network signals) and returns a result: inside Alberta, outside Alberta, or unable to confirm. Signals that suggest location masking, such as a VPN, proxy or emulator, are checked at the same time.

How it is used and kept

  • We store the result, the time of the check and the approximate area — not a continuous trail of where you go.
  • Checks repeat during a session when needed, for example after a period of time or if your network changes.
  • Records of checks are kept as evidence that play took place inside the province, and for fraud investigations.

You can refuse or withdraw location permission in your browser settings at any time. You will still be able to log in, read your history and manage your account; real-money play will stay locked until a check succeeds.

07Financial Information

Your PowerPlay wallet is held in Canadian dollars. Deposits and withdrawals are processed through Interac, and we only list payment methods that are actually connected to the platform.

What we hold

  • Transaction records: transaction ID, date, type (deposit, withdrawal, bet, win, adjustment), amount, currency and status.
  • The payment references Interac and our payment processor return to us, such as a confirmation number and the name on the paying account.
  • Your wallet balance and any limits you have set.

What we do not hold

You approve Interac payments inside your own bank's environment. We never see or store your online banking login or password. Card numbers, if a card-based method is ever added, would be handled by a certified payment processor, not stored by us.

Why we need it

To credit and pay out money correctly, to make sure withdrawals go only to an account in your own name, to apply deposit and loss limits, and to meet record-keeping and reporting duties to the Financial Transactions and Reports Analysis Centre of Canada (FINTRAC). Large or unusual transactions may be reviewed and, where the law requires, reported.

08Casino Activity

Every time you open a casino game or sit down at a live dealer table, a game session is created. The session links your account, your wallet and the game studio that supplies the game.

What a session record contains

  • The game, the studio and the session start and end time.
  • Each round or hand: stake, result, win amount and the balance before and after.
  • For live dealer games, the table and the round reference the studio uses.

Your casino history appears in My Account so you can see what you played and what it cost. We also use session data to settle disputes ("did that spin pay?"), to apply loss and session limits, to show reality checks, and to spot patterns that can point to gambling harm, such as sessions growing longer or deposits following losses. Live dealer studios record table video for their own integrity and dispute purposes; players are not shown on camera.

09Sports Betting Activity

Each bet you place is stored as a bet record, whether it is a single, a parlay or a live bet.

What a bet record contains

  • The time the bet was placed and accepted, and the bet ID.
  • For each selection: the event, market and selection, and the odds at acceptance.
  • Stake, potential return, bet status (open, won, lost, void, cancelled) and settlement time.

Your bet history in My Account is built from these records. We use them to settle bets, to answer questions about settlement, to apply limits, and to meet our integrity obligations: suspicious betting patterns may be shared with the regulator or with sports-integrity bodies, as the law and our licence conditions require. We do not use your bet history to decide which odds to show you.

10Device Information

When you use the site, our servers automatically receive technical information: IP address, browser type and version, operating system, screen size, language setting, and the pages you request with a time stamp. We use it to deliver pages in the right format, keep the service secure, detect fraud (for example several accounts from one device) and investigate errors.

Server logs containing IP addresses are kept for a limited period for security purposes and then deleted or anonymized.

11Cookies

We use a small number of cookies and browser storage items to keep you signed in, remember your age confirmation and cookie choice, and keep your bet slip between pages. The full list, with what each one does and how long it lasts, is in our Cookie Policy. You can change your choice at any time from that page.

12Analytics

We do not currently run third-party analytics on PowerPlay. If we add an analytics tool, it will only load after you accept analytics cookies, it will be configured to collect aggregated statistics (such as which pages are visited and how fast they load) rather than to profile you, and it will be listed in the Cookie Policy before it goes live.

13Marketing

We send marketing — news about the platform or offers — only if you opt in, and you can opt out at any time from My Account or with the unsubscribe link in any message. We never send marketing to anyone under 18, anyone who is self-excluded or on a time-out, or anyone whose account is restricted for responsible gambling reasons.

Account and service messages (security alerts, verification requests, changes to these terms) are not marketing, and you will receive them regardless of your preference.

14Third-Party Services

Some parts of the service are provided by specialist companies acting on our instructions. Each receives only what it needs to do its job and is bound by contract to protect it.

  • Identity verification providers — KYC, age and address checks, sanctions screening.
  • Geolocation providers — confirming you are inside Alberta.
  • Payment processors and Interac — deposits and withdrawals.
  • Game studios and live dealer studios — running casino games and recording rounds.
  • Sports data providers — fixtures, scores and settlement results (they receive no personal data about you).
  • Hosting and email services — running the site and delivering account messages.

15Data Sharing

Apart from the service providers above, we share personal information only where we must or where you ask us to:

  • with Alberta Gaming, Liquor and Cannabis (AGLC) and Alberta iGaming Corporation (AiGC), when they request information as regulators of gaming in Alberta;
  • with FINTRAC and law enforcement, where the law requires a report or a valid order is served;
  • with sports-integrity bodies, when a betting pattern needs investigating;
  • with a buyer or successor, if the business is sold or reorganized — under the same protections as this policy.

We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertisers for their own use.

16International Data Transfers

Some of our service providers may process information outside Canada, for example in the United States or the European Union. When that happens the information is protected by contract to a standard comparable to Canadian law, though it may be accessible to courts and authorities in that country. You can ask our privacy contact which providers process data outside Canada.

17Data Retention

We keep personal information only as long as there is a reason to. For a regulated gaming account those reasons are often legal ones:

  • Identity, transaction and bet records are kept for at least five years after your account closes, as Canadian anti-money-laundering law requires, and longer if the regulator requires it.
  • Self-exclusion records are kept for as long as needed to honour the exclusion, so you are not offered an account by mistake.
  • Support messages are kept while your account is open and for a reasonable period afterwards in case of a dispute.
  • Marketing preferences are kept until you change them or close the account.

When a retention period ends, the information is deleted or anonymized so it can no longer identify you.

18User Rights

You have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you and learn how it has been used and shared;
  • Correct information that is inaccurate or incomplete;
  • Withdraw consent to optional uses such as marketing or location access, understanding that some features will then be unavailable;
  • Ask for deletion of information we are not required by law to keep;
  • Complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta if you are not satisfied with our answer.

Send requests to privacy@owerplay.slonik.store from the email address on your account. We may ask you to confirm your identity first, and we respond within the time limits set by law — normally 45 days under Alberta's PIPA.

19Data Security

Pages and payments travel over encrypted HTTPS connections. Passwords are stored as one-way hashes, sessions use secure cookies that scripts cannot read, and every form that changes your account carries a security token to block forged requests. Staff access to personal information is limited to people who need it for their role.

No system is perfectly secure. Use a unique password, never share your login, and sign out on shared devices. If we discover a breach that creates a real risk of significant harm, we will tell you and the Information and Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.

20Contact Information

For privacy questions and requests: privacy@owerplay.slonik.store. For anything else about your account: support@owerplay.slonik.store or the contact form. Operator details are listed in the Data Controller section above.

21Policy Updates

We update this policy when the service, the law or our providers change. The "Last updated" date at the top always shows the current version. If a change affects how we use information you have already given us, we will tell you by email or in your account before it takes effect.
