01Introduction
This Cookie Policy explains which cookies and similar technologies PowerPlay uses, what each one is for and how long it stays on your device. We keep the list short on purpose: the site runs on a handful of essential cookies and two small items in your browser's local storage, and nothing else is set without your consent.
It should be read together with our Privacy Policy.
02What Are Cookies
Cookies are small text files a website asks your browser to keep. Each time you load a page, the browser sends them back, which is how a site remembers that you are signed in or that you already answered a question. Local storage is a similar space inside your browser; the difference is that it stays on your device and is not sent to our servers with every request.
Cookies set by the site you are visiting are "first-party". Cookies set by another company's service embedded in the page are "third-party".
03Essential Cookies
These are needed for the site to work and to meet legal requirements — signing in, security, the age confirmation and remembering your cookie choice. They cannot be switched off in the cookie settings, but you can block them in your browser; if you do, signing in and the bet slip will stop working.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
op_session | Cookie (HttpOnly) | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages and carries the security token that protects forms against forged requests. Scripts on the page cannot read it. | Until you close the browser or log out |
age_ok | Cookie | Remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older, so the age question is not shown on every page. It does not replace identity verification. | 365 days |
cookie_consent | Cookie | Stores your cookie choice — all, essential only, or the categories you picked — so we can respect it. | 180 days |
op_slip | Local storage | Keeps the selections and stake in the Bet Slip you are building, so they are still there on the next page. Nothing is sent to us until you confirm a bet. | Until you clear the slip or your browser storage |
04Functional Cookies
Functional storage remembers choices that make the site easier to use. Neither item identifies you or is sent to our servers.
| Name | Type | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|
op_rail | Local storage | Remembers whether you collapsed the side navigation on a desktop screen. Written only if you allow functional cookies. | Until you clear your browser storage |
op_mode | Local storage | Remembers whether you last viewed the home page in Sports or Casino mode. Written only if you allow functional cookies. | Until you clear your browser storage |
05Analytics Cookies
We do not currently set any analytics cookies. If we add an analytics tool, it will run only after you accept the Analytics category, it will collect aggregated statistics such as page views and loading times, and it will be added to the table below before it goes live.
06Marketing Cookies
We do not currently set any marketing or advertising cookies. If we ever measure advertising campaigns, those cookies will run only with your consent under the Marketing category, and never for anyone under 18 or anyone who is self-excluded.
07Third-Party Cookies
The site itself sets no third-party cookies. Some services open in their own window or frame and may set their own cookies under their own policies — for example a game studio's game window once you launch a casino game, or your bank's site while you approve an Interac payment. We do not control those cookies; the provider's privacy notice explains them.
08Cookie Retention
Here is everything the site stores, in one place, with how long it lasts.
| Name | Type | Category | Purpose | Retention |
|---|---|---|---|---|
op_session | Cookie (HttpOnly) | Essential | Keeps you signed in as you move between pages and carries the security token that protects forms against forged requests. Scripts on the page cannot read it. | Until you close the browser or log out |
age_ok | Cookie | Essential | Remembers that you confirmed you are 18 or older, so the age question is not shown on every page. It does not replace identity verification. | 365 days |
cookie_consent | Cookie | Essential | Stores your cookie choice — all, essential only, or the categories you picked — so we can respect it. | 180 days |
op_slip | Local storage | Essential | Keeps the selections and stake in the Bet Slip you are building, so they are still there on the next page. Nothing is sent to us until you confirm a bet. | Until you clear the slip or your browser storage |
op_rail | Local storage | Functional | Remembers whether you collapsed the side navigation on a desktop screen. Written only if you allow functional cookies. | Until you clear your browser storage |
op_mode | Local storage | Functional | Remembers whether you last viewed the home page in Sports or Casino mode. Written only if you allow functional cookies. | Until you clear your browser storage |
Retention runs from the last time the item was set. Logging out ends the session cookie straight away; clearing your browser data removes everything in the table.
09Managing Preferences
When you first visit, the cookie banner offers Accept All, Reject Optional and Cookie Settings, where you can choose categories one by one. Your choice is saved in the cookie_consent cookie. You can change it at any time:
Your current choice: You have not made a choice yet.
You can also manage or delete cookies in your browser settings. Every major browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, Edge — lets you view, block and remove cookies and site data, usually under Privacy or Site settings.
